The sports business industry generates
over $250 billion per year in revenue, more than twice that of the
auto industry and nearly seven times that of Hollywood. While athletes
of color represent the vast majority of professional athletes, the
lack of firms and professionals of color in numbers and/or in meaningful
positions in the related areas of the industry is a cause of great
concern.
FAIR (FraserNet's Athlete Initiative for Reform), organized to respond
to the lack of involvement by firms and professionals of color in
the sports business industry, is a nationwide movement to raise
the consciousness of professional athletes of color and connect
service firms and professionals of color with those athletes. Working
with George Fraser and the FraserNet team, the Company's efforts
are directed at establishing a connection between Black professionals,
organizations, and businesses and the Black professional athlete
to help players maximize their personal development while becoming
useful contributors to the Black community through community and
economic development, job creation and political involvement.
The mission of FAIR is to increase the participation of African
American professionals in the provision of goods and services to
African American athletes in particular and the sports industry
in general. By connecting the African American athlete (funds) with
the African American professional (intellectual capital and community
development and business know-how), FAIR will lead a revolution
of thought and action to uplift the entire African American community
in the areas of community and economic development, educational
opportunity, job creation and personal empowerment.
Our effort is designed to increase
the utilization of African American professionals to meet the accounting,
auto, banking, finance/investment, marketing, personal services/furnishings,
public relations and real estate needs of the African American athlete.
Our strategy will involve utilization of our vast network of firms,
individuals and organizations of color to connect with current and
prospective athletes and/or their families. We believe that the
participation and influence of firms, organizations and professionals
of color in the sports industry will increase as a result of this
increased consciousness, and that the increased participation by
such firms will serve as a catalyst for community and economic development
within our community.
As the Black Coaches Association and
the Fritz Pollard Alliance have discovered in trying to initiate
change on the college and professional levels respectively, the
athlete is at the root of the solution and FAIR will develop and
sponsor activities, programs and events to increase the success
rate of athletes of color and make the connection between those
athletes and firms and professionals of color. FAIR has reached
out to other organization dedicated to creating partnerships that
result in creating intellectual and economic wealth in our community
including, but not limited to, 100 Black Men, the Black MBA Association,
the National Association of Black Accountants, the National Black
Lawyers Association, the Urban League, the NAACP, and the various
fraternities and sororities of color across the country. Each organization
and its membership are uniquely positioned and qualified to assist
in the FAIR initiative.
